Former clients, Katy and Mike have a new reason to celebrate. Their son, Gavin Paul was born this past April. I was lucky enough to see him recently, and he really is one precious little boy.

After taking a break from weddings after Summer 2009 to get off my feet and prepare for the arrival of our son this May, I am now taking bookings for the upcoming 2010 fall/winter wedding season and beyond. :)

Dianne and Brian were married on June 28th. They held their ceremony and reception at the lovely Butternut Farm Golf Club in Stow, MA. Although the day was overcast and rainy, it was filled with lots of love and laughs!

Lantern Festival

Last night was the annual Lantern Festival at Forest Hills Cemetery here in JP. The event is inspired by the Japanese Bon Festival, a traditional event held to honor ancestors. During the Festival, people light lanterns to invite ancestors to visit their families. Then, the lanterns are sent floating out to sea to guide ancestors back to the world of spirits. Prayers are offered so their souls may rest in peace.

About 1,00+ people gathered last night, inscribing wooden lanterns with personal messages to friends and family who have passed on. Calligraphers were there to inscribe shades with Chinese or Japanese characters for hope, love, peace or eternal spirit. We choose love and peace for ours. We added the names of our beloved grandparents and friends who have passed.

There was Japanese Taiko drummers playing,

and then at 8:30, while a bagpiper played, we took our lit Lantern to the edge of Lake Hibiscus to launch it with the others. It was so lovely looking at the thousands of lanterns illuminating the darkness while a full moon peaked over the trees.

Kristen and Curt were married June 7th at the Hawthorne Country Club in North Dartmouth.

It was a delight to spend the day with a couple who are so clearly in love. Right before the end of the reception, they changed into their Boston Red Sox t-shirts!

Road Trip - Quest for Lobster Roll

Since last summer I have been craving Lobster Rolls. Not just any Lobster Roll... but the ones from Oarweed Restaurant, in Ogunquit, ME. So as soon as we could, we decided to take the hour and half drive out during Memorial Day weekend to head out to lobster roll heaven.

On the way back, we stop by Salisbury Beach and then Newburyport, where they were having a street craft and food (did someone say food?!) fair. We actually met one of the founders of the Life Is Good t-shirt company. And of course we stopped by the local candy shop and grabbed a chocolate-covered Twinkee (unfortunately the Twinkee was eaten before I could get a picture of it). We also came across the wonderful Oldies Marketplace and I purchased an old Ansco camera from the 1940s.

In addition to my wedding coverage, I am happy to announce that I will now be accepting bookings for Baby & Kid photo sessions.

I am offering basic 1 hour sessions at your home or another location for $275. This will include online proofing for three months. I am also offering a "Baby Steps" package which includes four 1 hour sessions (for example, baby as a newborn, at 4 months, at 8 months and 1 year), online proofing, and your choice of coffeetable book or a customizable album which you will receive after the fourth session.

wow, it has been so long since I posted. as my season is winding down, i just wanted to thank all of my 2007 clients. it was a great year and i so enjoyed working with you'all and shooting your weddings.

i also wanted to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and a happy new year. i am so looking forward to 2008. it should be an exciting year.

so we got alittle snow here in Boston... over 10" in one day. me and rocco headed out the next morning to do some exploring. i have never seen a dog love snow more than rocco. he was one happy pup.

Bridget and Jamin's Wedding

Well it has been a busy summer and an even busier September! But I have new wedding images coming soon, including Bridget and Jamin's wonderful wedding celebration in Cape Cod. I had such a great time at Katy and Mike's engagement portrait session yesterday. We had to cancel twice because of rain, and sure enough when we got to location, it started raining. Luckily there was a gazebo to hang out and snap a few pictures in while we waited for the rain to pass. Once the rain stopped, the rest of the evening was perfect (except for some very hungry mosquitoes!). Great light, a lovely location (Mike proposed to Katy here), and a very cool couple to work with.

Their July '08 ceremony will be at St. Patrick Parish and their reception will be a the lovely Misselwood at Endicott College.

I have another great wedding season coming up this year. Lots of great couples and wonderful locations. Stay tuned for updates!

In the meantime, let me introduce one of my favorite models, Rocco (you will see him alot on this blog)... He is always happy to get his picture taken. We adopted him over a year ago from the Animal Shelter in Sterling, MA and he has been a comical addition to our household.

New Album Design

This year I am offering albums to all my clients. I am working with both AsukaBooks (for my non-traditional, super-cool, coffee table book albums) and Zookbinders (for my more traditional and elegant matted and flush-mount albums).

I just completed a AsukaBook EX design a few weeks ago for 2006 clients, Kate and Craig who had their wedding at the Essex Conference Center and Retreat, in Massachusetts. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony amongst the tall pine trees. Their reception featured a lobster bake and lots of dancing! I posted their album on my site.

This American Life

I just saw on Salon.Com that the radio program "This American Life" is coming to TV. Hosted by Ira Glass, the show chooses a theme and puts together different kinds of stories on that theme. Sounds a bit boring, eh? The show is actually quite charming, with its thought provoking, ironic, sad, and sometimes hilarious stories.

Mortified

NPR did a hilarious feature on this stage show called, "Mortified" which according to their website, "is a comic excavation of teen angst artifacts (journals, letters, poems, lyrics, home movies, stories and more) as shared by their original authors before total strangers." Luckily, it appears they will be having a show here in Boston in April.

Check out the awesomely awkward photos and embarrassingly bad poetry section called "Woe and Tell". Good stuff!

Nicole and Adrian

I have been updating my website as of late. I am working on a new letters page and I received this wonderful email: "It was a pleasure working with Amy. We knew that we could trust her with our wedding photos from the moment we first sat down together to discuss the event. Her sensitivity at capturing the smallest details and subtle moments was extraordinary. Our photos perfectly represent the spirit and energy of our celebration." -Nicole and Adrian. This particular email made me really happy because Nicole and Adrian were the first couple that booked me as I was just finishing school. I remember my first consultation with Nicole and her mom over their house, having tea and chatting. They could not have been nicer. They put a lot of trust in me as a newbie wedding photographer, so for that they will always be near and dear to my heart.

Their wedding was on May 27, '06 (a spectacularly hot day), with the ceremony at the Arnold Arboretum Rose Garden, and early dinner the reception at Oleana Restaurant in Cambridge. Nicole was one of the calmest brides, even when the hotel's fire alarm went off while she was getting ready, nothing phased her. Even with a few raindrops at the reception, the whole day was perfectly relaxed and lovely. Here are a few images from the day:
